I think this cage would be a good size for 2-3 rats. I have a cage about that size for 3 of my rats, and they do perfectly fine in it. They are male rats though, so they don't need as much space as females do, so if you are going to have females in that cage, I would get a different one with different levels. Females have more energy, so they like when they can run up and down.

Yeah.. I just answered a question not too long ago, a woman asked a question asking if she should get one. In my answer I warned her that people would tell her dont get them, theyre gross, etc etc. I submitted my answer and sure enough, there was already an answer that said 'are you nuts!! they spread diseases!!!!" I say, if you've never owned a pet, and clearly know nothing about them, dont answer questions about them just to spread your ignorance. My rats arent dirty, my rats dont spread diseases. My rats are like little rodent puppies who just want to be loved like any other animal. I feel sorry for them every time I look into their cute little faces and know how many people would cause them harm if they could , just because of the bad rep that rats have. But hey, I do my part to keep my babies safe, and spread the word that rats are NOT gross, and do NOT, spread diseases. I wish everyone could just get over their hatred and spend just one hour with one of these delightful little creatures. I think that'd change alot of minds.

That is the exact same one have for my two ratties and they seem fine with it, but you also need to purchase a little hut and maybe add a second floor. My ratties got a hammock and they love it, then they start to chew on it and destroy it. Silly little guys. As far as your parents, well I don't know what to tell you. Just tell them your rats need the room and this would be a good investment for whatever critters you may have in the future.

How big are the rats? Be sure they can't get through the bars. It might be okay for 2 rats but not sure about 3. Rats need AT LEAST 10 gallons of room per rat.
I just got this cage for my rats. I love it. It was worth the money and it's huge!!

It looks a little small. I have 2 rats in something much larger. The one Erbicilio posted looks great - spacious and fun. Spend the extra $20 and go for that one.

it's definately ok 4 2 rats, maybe 3. just tell your parents you'll pay for everything and getting a rat is everything to u. can't tell u it'll work, but its worth giving it a try. when i got my rats my mom was going to let me get them, but my dad never really answered me, so i got the rats anyway and it worked out 4 the best.
