I know that as of now or very soon that all US citizens will need passports to exit and re-enter the USA. However, does the government of Jamaica require US citizens to have a passport to enter? If so do they give you a tourist card or do they stamp your passport? Can I exit and re-enter the US using a passport and just enter and exit Jamaica using a drivers license or birth certificate?

Rewind a little bit, first thing first,no Caribbean island would dare such a thought on imposing passport requirements on US citizens as the tourism industry is too vital for many of the economies,as it has become the no. #1 earner for foreign exchange,if any passport is being required it is a US push initiative,am only aware of US officials asking for passport after US citizens try to re enter, their country of origin.

As of 2007 first,it was required that all US nationals have a passport ,now the date has shifted to a later date.however my point is am not aware of Jamaican officials asking for passport at a port of entry.

As that would be unproductive for their tourism industry.

Jamaica (and most other Caribbean countries) have now made it so that US citizens have to have a passport when entering and leaving the country. You can no longer just enter with only a driver's license or birth certificate. Your passport will be stamped to show the dates you entered and left the country.

No. i go to jamaica every year, when i was little i was able to enter with my birth certificate alone, but now they dont do that anymore, you must have a passport or you will be in the immigration office with that ugly immigration officer. I went thru it, and if you cant produce a passport, you will have to go to the police station immigration division on spanish town road, and ask to stay in jamaica or u will be given a very short time to stay (shorter than whats on the plane ticket.)

Yes you will need a passport to enter Jamaica. However, for many persons who are staying here on vacation, many resorts in Jamaica are offering a package incentive where they pay for the visitor's passport.

I highly doubt it... considering that needing a passport just came into effect, do you know HOW many passports probably need to be made? If you get it in like a week or two you'd be very lucky.
