Because the US invaded them in order to secure the oil ministry and in following, to allow companies like Dick Cheney's Halliburton to go in and control the oil. Moreover, Iraq is in an ideal location (centrally located) as a conduit to all oil transport in the middle east. If the US controls it, they control essentially all oil traffic there. Iraqis are resisting this, just as US citizens would resist it (remember the "bear arms" amendment?) if another country invaded us for our natural resources. The US government claims it did it for humanitarian reasons, but if this were so, they would also invade other countries, which they didn't. Oil, and the control of it, is the sole reason.

all you morons and this oil crap! we didnt go in to gain control of the oil. we have so much damn oil here in the united states its not even funny! hell, Alaska alone can produce enough oil to kee the country going for close t o15 yrs! then around the utah/wyoming/colorado area there is a nother crap load of oil. that can keep us going for another 40 yrs at least! so believe me, we didnt go in for the oil.....
