If the cost of purchasing a horse is too great, you most certainly don't want one. That is the least amount you will ever spend on a horse. It doesn't matter if you keep your horse in your own barn or board, the costs are huge...trims, shoes, worming, shots, unplanned medical bills (MIL just spent $10,000 on one of hers), feed, tack and on and on. Horses are great, but if money is an issue...try to volunteer or work for a stable to be near them instead. They're worth every penny, however.

You can get a horse very inexpensively at an auction or a horse rescue facility. But... The cost of owning a standard sized horse or larger gets real costly. If you could afford to keep a horse up properly and you really enjoy them, then it is worth it. But if you cannot care for the horse properly, then no, it's not worth the cause of making them suffer just because you love them. If needbe, you can always rent horses.

dispite what people say there are only two kinds of horses. the easy keeper, which means they don't cost as much. meaning: they don't need alot of food to maintain a healthy weight. and then there is the money taker. they usually are your sport horses and larger more hyper horses. they can eat a bag of food (50 lb) in a week. if you're just looking for a general pleasure horse one bag of food every three weeks and about three bails of hay a week ($4.50 ea) the saddle and other supplies does cost but you only buy it once. i have owned both kinds and the easier the better. to me horses are totally worth every penny. when i have a bad day, i just jump on my horse and wonder until i feel better. horses don't judge or argue with you. you just get peace.

The initial purchase is the cheapest part, but in my opinion, every penny I spend on my horses is absolutely worth it. I love my two rascals, and they give the satisfaction I can't find anywhere else. I would feed them before I feed myself. My horses are my life. If you love them as much as you think you do, any money is worth it, they make life worth it. Heaven will be filled with horses!

It's worth it if you really love horses and really don't care if, and they do, cost a lot. If not or you like you can't afford one then just try taking just lessons or leasing a horse to start with and find out from there. For me, it's worth it!

it is completly worth it because when you really get to know your horse you feel like they are your best friends in the whole world because you can tell them secrets and not ever have to worry about it being repeated. They are a lot of fun and once you get to know that horse really well when your riding your horse you just feel free and like you and your horse are one and no one could ever seperate you two it is the most wonderful feeling in the whold world I hope you get to experience this happiness to because it is awsome.

Is it worth it??? YES. Alot of hard work, cold mornings but twice as rewarding. It picks you up when you are down. Its an exscapism, and there's nothing like getting a reult after alot of hard work.
I advise alot of thought though as it take most of my money and all my spare time and more if I had it.

Yes! If you aren't sure check out leasing or part boarding. I have ridden my pony for over four years and we are just starting to click and work as a team.
