if you put the videos into a playlist and click "burn disc" it will let you burn them onto a DVD-ROM, but only as a data-dvd, which means you will only be able to watch them on your computer.

Not that I know of. The content you download off itunes is copy protected, and burning of said media can't be done. If you click on Burn Disc it'll not let you do it.
Apple TV came out yesterday, a $299 media thingy that'll let you store and stream your media from iTunes to your TV.

I don't think so, I tried to burn some of the episodes I got and it wouldn't do it. I'm pretty sure that apple encoded those files so you can't burn them, the best way is always to try though. If you are worried about buying it and then not being able to burn it, test it with one of the free TV episodes they give out each week.

yes you can burn movies that you buy on iTunes but you can't sell things that you burn

Yes you can however you willl only be able to play those movies or TV's show on that PC...
I believe that the files ar encoded with information that pertains to you only and your PC MAC Address. this is to prevent copywright infringement etc etc
