No it's not. My friend has an Oscar's party every year. She sends out invitations, has food and drinks, and she makes up "ballots" for everyone to pick what they think will win--she has prizes for who ever gets the most right answers.

No I don't think that's lame at all, In fact I wish I could come, Just be sure to serve plenty of food and have on hand plenty of ice, those things seem to be what go fast Oh when you serve your drinks be sure to make a diet drink apart of what drinks you will serve even if you are not on a diet. Like Diet Coke diet Pepsi ect. I hope you go through with your party and I know it will go well., Oh If you know everyone you are inviting great, But sometimes we invite people who we know that invite persons who we don't know so, Just have a block put on your line so that NO one can make long distant phone calls from your home phone, and run up your phone bill w/out you knowing until you get the bill. You may be saying "WHAT" but this can occur and has been known to happened. Again Hope your Party is a success and enjoy the Oscars.

No! If you enjoy entertainment and movies, and have friends that do as well, it's certainly something that could be fun. You could have a themed night with everyone dressing up as a celebrity, movie or Hollywood-themed decorations and fancy drinks and food, or you could do it casually with everyone in jeans. :)
Print out Oscar nominations lists and have everyone select their choices, and keep track to see who gets the most right! There can be prizes for different categories (i.e. who won with the biggest long shot, who got all the actors right, who got all the actresses right, which movie got the most awards, etc) and an overall winner.
Since the Oscars can get long, and the commercials can too, make sure you have alternate forms of entertainment. Music, games, food, drinking (if you're of age), etc. will keep your party from getting boring.

No it's not lame. What's lame about friends coming over to have some drinks and good eats!
If you and your friends dig the Oscars and the red carpet (my fav), sure why not!

No, it's not lame. I remember when my friends and I had 9-9-99 party. (That was the MTV music awards show!) We had a great time and we also got busted by the cops! The cop made us dump all of our alcohol down the drain. But a few of us who were smart, hid the good stuff while he watching some others dumping theirs!!

I don't think so at all....any time is a good time to get together with friends, maybe have some snacks and enjoy each other and a big event like the Oscars.

No, I have been to plenty. Some good ideas are to have a pool of who is going to win what, have everyone put in x amount of dollars then the person with the most correct picks win. Also you could have everyone bring a dish somehow related to the movies nominated/or movie people are nominated for-it is hard to do but it is fun to see what people come up with and how they got what food from what movie.

Not at all! My uncle has one every year with over 100 people...it's especially fun if you do some sort of ballots (and put money on them...XD), or if you give out your own Oscars (the kind they sell at novelty stores) to people who guess right or just win "your award".

No, it is not lame. My sister has a party every year, everyone dresses up, she does food platters etc. She downloads the finalist categories & makes copies for everyone to fill out for the winners. Everyone has fun.
