It is quite normal to forget your dreams. Many people don't remember their dreams. The fast pace of our lives and the fact that we often have to get up immediately upon awakening contributes to that forgetting.
Some people seem to be more attuned to their dreams and to really want to remember them and to focus on remembering them, and this sort of focus seems to help with the remembering.
Our level of awareness during sleep is lowered, so it is understandable that memory of dreams is not great. We remember our dreams best if we are awakened during or immediately after a dream. Most people who do recall dreams when they wake up are actually remembering only their last dream from their final REM sleep (which is when we dream) or they remember a dream that awakened them earlier in the night - we have many dreams during sleep.
So the forgetting is natural. People who never remember their dreams probably have a sleep pattern that puts too much time between their last REM sleep and waking.
If you want to remember your dreams try to recall them immediately when you wake up before you even open your eyes. The positive side of not remembering your dreams is that it may mean you are sleeping very soundly and getting good rest.

A dream is recalled most easily if we awaken during it or immediately after it ends. If more than a few minutes lapse at the end of a dream, we risk forgetting of the dream - but if we awaken too soon before the dream stops, we might miss an important part of it.

Some cultures believe that dream ability is related to the direction in which your head is pointed when you sleep. Planetary magnetic fields, and all that rot. The best way to start remembering is to 1) ask yourself 50x per day, "Am I dreaming?" and 2) to write down the faintest glimmer of memory directly on awakening.

If you are not sleeping well you might not be dreaming. even if you are it's normal not to remember. I only remember things that disturbed me or ones that were more vivid. The worse thing is to wake up during a good one. You can't go back to it no matter how hard you try!

Well when you first awaken in the morning, if you do not have to RUN TO THE BATHROOM...
Try to lie in bed for a moment and try and recollect what you were JUST DOING in your dreams...
Lie with your eyes closed, relax, and try and think about where you were, who you were with, what you were doing...etc.
Write down anything you remember.
I used to recall all of my dreams, MOSTLY I still Usually do.
But sometimes, even if I am having a dream, that seems to go on and on...even if I know I am dreaming, then i wake up and like have to rush to the bathroom, or something, well that is usually the only place I really have to rush too, sometimes when I awaken...
But just that, can MAKE ME FORGET my dream/s...
Just in like a minute.
So try to focus your thoughts to your dream/s as soon as you awaken.
Or if you do have to get up, just try thinking about it, try and remember anything you can...And then WRITE IT DOWN.
Our dreams fade away FAST ENOUGH as that part of our Memory, JUST FADES AWAY QUICKLY...as you know all too well.
Try to think of what you want to dream about...or try," Lucid dreaming"...
Anyway, Good luck with it.
Not remembering your dreams, sucks.

Maybe your dreams aren't dealing with important issues right now (you might be happy w/ your life) or you're just not dreaming as much. It's not a bad thing.

When you go to sleep you go through what you call "steps" and I think there is about nine of them. And if you reach the nineth step before you wake up you can't remeber anyting but sometimes you skip the nineth step and wake up on the eighth step and so you can remeber your dream.
