I have NO idea as to what the steps are .. can someone walk me thru .. what to do first with the file, then what's the best download site...blah blah blah. (it's a htm file that's not encryped) (the songs on the file are the only place I can find them. they're not on youtube. google, yahoo..even tried online video guide)

Yout best bet is to install iTunes and see if the song you want is in the iTunes store.

First, go to the below link and download the program called "Audacity". It's a free program.
Once you've installed that program, you'll see on the upper right of its initial window a "down arrow" that allows you to pick the source of the sound...pick "What U Hear". Then start up the file that has the songs, and immediately click on the "Record" button in Audacity, and then hit the "Stop" button when the song is completed. That will give you a song file on your hard drive of what was heard. Good luck.
