Although you may be able to see your e-mails by acessing www.tesco.net, your e-mail address should have been removed from the tesco website when you disconnected.
Seeing as you are able to use this yahoo answers service why don't you use yahoo e-mail instead. Or go to www.hotmail.co.uk (or .com) and set up a new address.

Normally with ISP email addresses you are unable to keep them when you leave. This is one if the incentives to remain with them.

You would have to check with your ISP if it is possible to keep it, I don't think tesco offer this.

You may be able to keep the dial up account active as a pay as you go account where you would have to dial up every month or wo to keep it going. This would only require connecting for a few seconds. This would only be of use if it was possible to access the email via a website or by pop account. Sometimes you need to access the email via the isps internet connection.

For future get an email that isn't tied to an isp so you can keep it no matter where you go for internet

I have experience here.If you have not cancelled your old Tesco account you can login to the webmail with your username and password. You can forward any mail that comes in to your new email address (or just check them via the web). If you were paying monthly, you can change to pay as you go(which you may have been on anyway) and your old Tesco emails will remain in use. As you will not be dialling Tesco anymore, you won't generate any bills for pay as you go and as long as your email is still being used it should stay in place. I left Tesco dial up some years ago and my old email addresses are still accessible..

If your old email address was with your ISP, then it will be gone once you cancel your internet account with them. If it was with a free provider like Hotmail or Yahoo (etc) then you will be able to access it with the new internet. If you can't anymore, then you may not ever be able to unless you ask the old ISP. So basically, you probably can't. You'll just have to send a note to people you email notifying them of your new address.

I have got the same problem with a computer here at my office. I have told Outlook 2007 to only use LAN connections. I have also told internet explorer to NEVER DIAL A CONNECTION, and just about any other place that can be set for LAN connections, i have set it. No matter what I have done, this computer still tries to dial a connection. I can't delete the dial-up connection because I need it to transmit info to the state HQ using another program. It just started doing this in the last 2 weeks.

I'm guessing you want to access your Tesco.net account. If you had dial-up service with them before you went with BT, they may not allow you to keep the email address. (They may not allow you to use their email unless you're paying them.)

If they DO let you keep it, just go to the Tesco.net homepage & fill out the WebMail login.

to do this use a program like outlook or outlook express you only need username/password and incoming mail server from old internet provider and outgoing mail server for new provider then you can send and recive using old email.

when you go onto the internet log onto www.Tesco.net and your email etc will be there.

I am with Hotmail - always have been - and have had several Internet providers but always used hotmail.
