Why do so many young people think that being serious & having responsibilties means they aren't living, or their life is over or that at that point life isn't fun or they will never have fun again? I just can't understand???

I am 25. I was always expected to help & do the right thing & so on... There were clear consiquences for my actions good & bad. I just see so many kids on here that say I am mature & then shirk responsibilty. Being responsible is what makes you an adult, Right? Not your age or if you have babies? Right?

You don't want anything to get in the way of fun!!??? Who has more fun, sneaking beers behind the bleechers, having sex when your parrents aren't home, or going to a really great club LEGALLY or what ever it may be. You do not have to disrespect your parents to have fun. Or is that the fun part? Trying to say "Look at me, I can do what I want I don't care what you say!" ?? I just don't understand?

not all teens are like that. I do almost all of the cooking in my house and I am 17. I also do laundry, clean the floors, and do other chores around the house. I know that if I work at some things now then I have more fun later (like doing extra so I can go skiing with firends). and I know that some things just have to be done.

A lot of older people think that too. It's not just young people. Responsibility is scary for a teenager. It's a huge change and most try to resist it. The biggest thing is not to push it and if you do push it don't be obnoxious about it. You'll start a fight and it'll get worse. Eventually, unless there's something wrong with the mentality of the teens they'll grow out of it and just except the responsibility. And if the teenager in question is completly irresponsible about every little thing and completly obnoxious I know how you feel. There are kids in my class about to graduate that cn't keep their act straight. It's all how the kid is raised. THey have to be taught to be responsible for themselves and their actions from early on, if not they're going to just keep thinking that their parent/guardian will take care of them for ever and ever and nothing can ever hurt them, then suddenly they're thrown into this new thing where they have to be responsible? it doesn't really work like that.

most/some think their lives will be over if they have to accept somekind of responsibility and be just like other kids. It is just one of those things that some---more often "spoiled brats" go thru. Usually if you kids are brought up at a young age having to do lilttle things around the house, then sure, at one time or another you will complain, but you will still pitch in and do what you know you are suppose to do. Some kids have NEVER been made to do anything(parents fault!!) so when told or asked they think life is over.

Because teens can get very emotional. Kinda like a pregnant woman. Thier hormones are crazy and they are tring to not be kids and be adults and everything is changing in many ways for them. We just have to be patient.

I don't really expect any more from adolescents/teens. They are immature and still learning. What is really bad is 30 year old men who still feel this way.
