Yes, it is entirely possible to be Muslim and gay. Gay people are everywhere all over the world, and they're in every faith and religion as well. The tough part is that *some* Muslim people don't believe in or accept homosexuality (just as some Christians do not accept it either). Some people have to stuggle against those who say their sexuality is at odds with their faith.

There are many outdated laws (ie, Sharia laws, Section 337 of the Indian penal code, etc) in different places that condemn homosexuality, so it's hard to be gay and Muslim if you're in an unsafe environment. It's not safe to come out, or live openly when there are unfair laws set against you. However, there are some groups like Salaam Canada, who have created safe spaces for people who are gay and Muslim. I know a few gay Muslim people, who are able to freely express who they are, and able to live proudly as both gay and Muslim. So yes, it's possible, and it happens :D

Yep, but the same goes for a christian and being gay. Not a very good one. Both religions believe it to be a sin against God or Allah.

Yes, of course. Your religion does not preclude you from being gay. It may not support the fact that people are gay and it may condemn those who are, but it can't prevent you from being gay.

Nope they'll hang you in public. I saw it happen first hand about a year and a half ago. This kids own father turned him in. I also saw a man set his daughter on fire with gas because she waved to us while we were on patrol. We were actually carrying medical supplies to a civilian hospital.

I think Hadith says it's okay, but I would just say don't let it stop you, and do all the normal 5 pillars etc. and you should be fine =]
