Personally, I prefer Canada to the U.S. but to each their own.
There are pro's and con's to both countries.
So, the answer for you is, why do you want to move, what will you gain by moving, and have you researched the differences in the countries? (like health care, politics, etc)
You are aware that to move to the US, unless you happen to have dual citizenship, you will have to go through the immigration process to live and work in the U.S.

Seriously, Milwaukee is as mid-America as you can get. I think your taxes and cost of living will be considerably less in Milwaukee.
It all depends why you want to move. If it is for a job or better life for your family, then go for it.
I personally have never been run out of Milwaukee.
