What ever happened to the party of fiscal responsibility?
why has the conservative party turned its backs against it own doctrines and adopted a leftist foreign spending policy and is asserting more nationalistic power than any previous democrat ever before.
Is Neo-conservatism officially the new philosophy running the republican party?

Traditional Conservatives have been over run by the religious right who have taken over just about every aspect of the Republican party.

It has become a party that once used the Bible to guide their own members lives, into a movement that demands, and will stop at nothing, until the Bible guides every Americans life.

The passion for responsibility and honor of being a United States citizen, has been replaced by a "be born again or hate America" mantra.

Personally, I hate what has happened. My Father used to be a proud republican. We would debate for hours on end, his way of thinking vs my liberal Democratic views. It made me think about any position I was for or against. During the last six years, fewer and fewer Republicans had anything to run on other than "stay the course" or "you're with us or against us". With no one to carry the message of real GOP ideals, I always won any debate, and still consider them "sissy" wins.

I hope those, perhaps like you, that still believe in the ideals of fiscal restraint, less government intrusion, and a resurgence of honor, take back the Republican party. I want to work at getting "there", and not be sidetracked by my loyalty or fervent belief in a "savior".

Excellent Question! As a traditional conservative, I'd like to know the answer to this as well. It seems that over the last 10-15 years, it has become popular to take the "more like them" approach to politics in persuit of the vote. This means that quite a few "conservatives" have become much more middle of the road, which starts to sway far away from true conservative doctrine.

The libertarians have taken on the role of the traditional conservatives. The republican party has sold out to the highest bidder, following in the footsteps of the democrats.

I do have to say, now I can literally laugh at a lib when they label me a neo-con

"The original neoconservatives were a band of liberal intellectuals who rebelled against the Democratic Party's leftward drift on defense issues in the 1970s. At first the neoconservatives clustered around Sen. Henry "Scoop" Jackson, a Democrat, but then they aligned themselves with Ronald Reagan and the Republicans, who promised to confront Soviet expansionism. The neoconservatives, in the famous formulation of one of their leaders, Irving Kristol, were "liberals mugged by reality.""

For the most part yes-- if you're saying Goldwater type of conservatives, then def. yes.

I think both parties have moved further to the extreme--
Righties have moved more right on some things-- but pander with money and spending
Lefties have moved further left-- and also pander with money and spending.

Lefties of the 60's were way different than those of today. So are righties.

Apparently so. Neocons pander to Religious extremists. Democrats now care more about fiscal responsibility than Republicans.

The party has been hijacked by extreme right wing religious types and wealthy business interests who use the Republican party as a vehicle for maintaining power and control over others.

Now THIS is what I have been trying to get across for years...
I thought they believed in limited government. What the heck ever happened to that? Now our government can hold citizens for as long as they desire without a court case and without any reasons. That gives them power impeding on the Constitution.

not my answer, yet I repeat this one: Why have not you stopped gloating yet? You gained one election. that doesn't make you God. you may't start up speaking approximately committing political genocide in simple terms on account which you disagree with human beings. Pull you head out of your @ss and quit being this manner of bigot. i admire the line, you gained the election, that doesn't make you God. thank you!!!!! maximum suitable answer whether the liberal who asked it does not supply it. I hate the gloating and cruelty. Did you seem on the form of folk who voted for Mitt Romney? It replaced into relatively an in depth election and that i fail to work out why somebody who claims (the liberals constantly declare this) is not extra open minded and accepting. i'm very bored with being mistreated and bashed for what I stand tall believing in. you're too bashing the Republican party, you attempt to ask a query yet getting your digs in. relatively recommend.
