You have to prove/show the brat who the boss is. You have to demand their respect. Like breaking a wild horse. You have to put the halter on the horse before you can lead it and train it. Don't give in to crying, whining, begging, pleading. Stand firm with your decisions and expectations.

Nothing should be given to a child (or person), simply based on the fact that a parent (person) can provide it. Everything in life is earned...money, shelter, food, luxuries as well as respect.

don't give them anything...make them earn a living - like a mini slave. they'll wonder what happened :)
