Windows XP I assume
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Power Options
There is a tab on your Power Options that also say Hibernate and a check box that has Enable Hibernate.
If your computer automatically wakes up for no apparent reason, you possibly have a program that is attempting to "wake" your computer from suspend/hibernate status and run itself. Check your Scheduled Tasks in Start > Programs > Accessories > Scheduled Tasks and see if there is anything listed there.

sounds like you are confusing hibernate with suspend . there is a big difference .
hibernate writes everthing in physical memory to the disk and shuts the PC down COMPLETELY . the system will in fact be turned off .
suspend puts the system in a low power state but can be returned to normal by hitting the space key or the power button , it will come back a lot faster .
Hibernate in windows is a bit buggy and has been known to hose hard disks , and cause blue screens and such , i wouldnt recommend it .

It isn't in the Control Panel. You right click and open "Properties" like you were going to change your desktop or screen saver, then you go to "Power" down under "Monitor Power" there should be a tab that says "Hibernation" you can change the settings to whatever you'd like in there or under "Power Scheme" you can change any option you so desire. Hope this helps!

Well, your computer goes into hidernation because the power is EXTREMELY low. This is just a feature for laptop (as far as I know no desktop do this) to tell you to plug in your AC adapter and give it more energy/power. Oh and what I'd do, I just open the screen up and it might start up, or just try hitting the power button (or holding it in?!?)?
