I had a surgical abortion in December 2006 on a Tuesday. The following Sunday I started taking birth control pills. A 28 day pack. 3 active weeks and 1 non active week. I am now almost at the end of the non- active week of the first pack of pills. I have not yet had a period. Is this normal or could the birth control be causing me not to have a period yet. I know that I am not pregnant and all the fetal material was removed. This was confirmed during my follow up doctor visit. How long does it usually take to get my menstrual cycle again?

Varies by woman... I wouldn't worry about it unless you don't have your period for several months.

I've known a number of women who have had abortions, and the return of their periods varied. I recall that it took several months for one of my ex's.

Hormonally, particularly with the birth control pills - your body probably still thinks its pregnant.

Give it three months - then talk to your doctor, unless you're extremely concerned. In that case talk with your doc...

Take care,

It could simply be the birth control. And if you bled a lot after your abortion, then your body may not be ready to have another period. If you feel pain, or if you are still concerned, call the clinic where you got your abortion. They should be able to provide whatever guidance you need. They can tell you whether or not you should continue with your pills or stop taking them until you menstruate.

I understand your no longer needing judgement, no one right it truly is conventional consisting of your circumstances & no one right here walks an afternoon on your footwear. I too have had the non-surgical abortion, in spite of the undeniable fact that I evaluate it a mistake now, on the time it appeared the in consumer-friendly words option for a mushy, self absorbed little woman (no longer saying it really is you!). basically, once you supply up bleeding and each little thing has expelled (you're basically inducing a miscarriage, sure it truly is gross yet deal). So, more effective or less one week after the pills were inserted. you may extremely commence in a sunday, it truly is the finest to keep in options. yet ask the nurses on the health center, they're very helpful. in spite of the undeniable fact that, you would possibly want to be extremely, extremely fertile after an abortion so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE use any & all forms of birth control accessible as to no longer could do this lower back anytime quickly...good success hun & i desire for the right for you!
