You first have to define what you mean by 'swearing'. When I was a child it was frowned on in some quarters even to say 'damn'. 'Bloody' was a little worse, and you never, ever used the word f***. Now nothing whatsoever is thought about the use of the first two words and the third is heard every day, everywhere. No, swearing is not a sin, how can use of language ever be thought to be that? Words are just in and out of fashion. The over use of swearing can show a lack of command of the language. It would be very uncool to say f*** to your 60 year old aunt, it might not matter amongst your peers.

Well I don't think it's either......it's not cool because some people swear alot to sound cool.....which isn't cool, it just makes them look like idiots. I also don't think it's a sin. It's a disrespectful way to talk but then again swearing has always been around and noting is going to change that but it isn't bad enought to be called a sin. This is what I think of swearing........it's ok as long as it's not directed to someone. Like when you hit your pinky toe in a chair..........you can swear then because it hurts!

Swearing can be cool if used properly, scientists at the California Institute for Colorful Metaphor find that profanity is 75% more effective if used correctly.

sin

language is a sign of intelligence. and swearing makes you sound ignorant. Plus it is a very hard habit to break.

It is just another word. You can take it to be offensive or not.
as far as a sin?............... the bible has nothing against cuss words that I know except for taking the lord's name in vain. sounds simple enough

Neither.
It just makes you sound less educated, and in some cases offensive. I myself do from time to time abreviate the cuss word...like wtf or *ss, but not because I think it's cool, and hopefully it's not offensive, mostly it's a bad habbit.

Neither. It just makes you sound as if you weren't burdened with an overabundance of education.
