I dont want the answer,
I want to know how to do them.

1 1/3 (multiplied by) 2 1/2

3 1/2 (divided by) 1 1/4

Same Q's in words:

One and one thirteenth multiplied by two and one half.

Three and one half divided by one and three quarters.

When multiplying or dividing fractions, you first have to turn mixed fractions into improper fractions:

Conversion Rule:
whole numerator/denominator (mixed)
= (whole*denominator+numerator)/denominator (improper)

example:
3 1/4 = (3*4 + 1)/4 = 13/4

Once both fractions are improper, you are ready to multiply or divide:

Multiply Rule: Multiply numerators over multiply denomiators and reduce the fraction.

2 1/4 times 1 3/8 =
(2*4 + 1)/4 * (1*8 + 3)/8 =
9/4 * 11/8 = 99/32 = 3 3/32

Division Rule: Invert (flip) the fraction you are dividing by and then multiply. [This works because division is the inverse of multiplication. Flipping the improper fraction by exchanging the numerator with the denominator creates the inverse that makes division happen.]

2 1/4 divided by 1 3/8 =

(2*4 + 1)/4 divided by (1*8 + 3)/8 =

9/4 divided by 11/8 =

9/4 MULTIPLIED BY 8/11 =
cross-canceling fours
9/1 * 2/11 =

18/11 = 1 7/11

Hope this helps you Lizard guy. These are two good resources for you to get extra help with. The first one is probably the best all-round explanation of fraction arithmetic I've ever seen.

Your word questions do not match your numerical questions. I'm answering the word questions.
====

One and one thirteenth multiplied by two and one half.

1 1/13 * 2 1/2
convert to improper fractions
1 is 13/13; 2 is 4/2
(13/13 + 1/13) * (4/2 + 1/2)
14/13 * 5/2
Now multiply numerators to find the solution numerator, and multiply denominators to find the solution denominator
(14*5)/(13*2)
70/26
now convert back to proper fraction
26 * 2 = 52. 26 * 3 = 78

2 18/26
reduce

2 9/13
=====
Three and one half divided by one and three quarters.
3 1/2 ÷ 1 3/4
7/2 ÷ 7/4

invert the second fraction and change the operand to multiply:
7/2 × 4/7

now multiply the numerators & multiply the denominators as before
28/14
reduce

2

Change them to improper fractions
4/3 x 5/2
multiply across 20/6 which reduces to 10/3

7/2 divided by 5/4
multiply across but flip the second fraction
7/2 x 4/5 = 28/10 which reduces to 14/5

for the 1st one you change them both to improper fractions. you multiply the denominator by the whole number and add the original numerator to get the new numerator. you use the same denominator.
so 1 1/3 * 2 1/2 is

4/3 * 5/2 then u multiply numerator (top no.) by denominator (bottom no.)

for the second one you change to improper fractions again but you flip the second number around from 5/4 to 4/5 and then multiply

You need to convert both to all fractions... 1 1/13 is the same as 13/13 + 1/13 = 14/13 Do the same to the other number, and then multiply both numerators (top parts) and place that number over the 2 denominators (bottom parts) multiplied.

3/4*5/2=15/8=1 7/8

7/2 devided by 5/4
=7/2*4/5=28/10
