It is all a matter of looking at the right time and the right place for a job.
For me, there had been times and places where it was easy and the job offers just came without looking for them, yet there had also been times and places where there is nothing to be had.
Relax, persevere, we have all been there and know that it is frustrating and discouraging.
List down things you know. such as
1. Your specialty
2. Office skills
3. Computer skills
4. Previous jobs skills
5. Plain Labor such as making coffee , waiting tables, etc

Do not concentrate only on number one, your specialty. Lets say you graduated from marketing and you deserve a pretty good, or at least an average marketing job. If it is not happening, find one outside the town ,city ,country where you live. If moving is not an option, go down to number 2, or further down. Be flexible, and look at all jobs as temporary until you get the one you really want with all your heart.
Good luck.

You're in the wrong country.
In Canada there is a huge workforce shortage. In (especially) western canaduh restaurants and some stores are shut during prime time hours day after day because they can't find enough workers. There are help wanted signs for every position from dish washer to doctors, everywhere. 7-11 isstill offering a $800 "bonus" just for starting work at one of their stores. A grocery store is offering a $2,000. "bonus" to start work there. Canaduh's lost most good workers in the "brain drain" that happened over a 10-15 year period that began in the late 1980's. People flocked to the US and Europe and Australia to get huge paychecks and free housing.
The down side: huge huge housing and accomodation shortage. The reason? Not enough skilled workers to build new housing and not enough people to keep a lot of hotels running.
Also, what housing is available is expennnnsive.

Many reasons, here are my top 3.

Because we Americans have been giving the jobs away to other countries, all in the name of saving a buck at Wal-Mart and everywhere else.

Because we Americans sue American corporations at the drop of the hat, and have lawsuited thousands of jobs away. (The money won at trial has to come from somewhere and it is usually in jobs)

And my final reason is that, in the past 3 years the cost of doing business has doubled and in some cases tripled. Utilities, steel, gasoline, taxes, insurance, freight, postage, paper, etc., etc., etc., have shot through the roof and it is nearly impossible to raise the price you sell things for (see reason 1)

So, there you go and it will only get worse in the next year or so.

The easiest way to explain it is by how you handle yourself at all levels of the hiring process and having a little bit of knowledge to back it up. If anyone tells you the textbook version listen to it and remember that your not applying for a job your selling yourself to those whose attention you have grabbed. If your talking about the lack of opprotunity then you just timid and need a boost of self confidence to make people look for you not the other way around. That's what the movies are all about one chance in a million, yet everyone seem to get several chances.

You have to know the right people. And be the right person. Most of the people who tell me they can't get a job are applying for jobs they don't have the skills for. Finding a job is easy, finding a GOOD job is hard.

Just do good in school, talk to different people so that you are more friendly, and find a really good interest of yours. Try to think of a job that would fit your intrest and go for it. If you believe you can do it and try hard, YOU CAN DO IT!

depends on your skills, presentation of yourself, and expectation of what you want. Also depends alot on the type of work and where you live.
In my city, if you cannot find a job you simply do not want to work.
Huge labour shortage here, they even offer bonuses at McD's, 7-11 etc.
