I'm not looking for how to make pupusas themselves or curtido; I can do that. I just want to know how they make the tomato sauce. What spices go into it?

I have lived in El Salvador, but now I live in the States. So yes, I've had the pupusas (probably more than I should have), been to Olocuilta millions of times. I just want to know if anyone's got different recipes for the salsa de tomate than I do. I want to make mine better!

In El Salvador they do have tomato sauce out. I agree that the Honduran food is probably similar, but trust me, in El Salvador there's definitely tomato sauce. It's really good too; that's why I want to know what spices they put in it!

Mi papás son de Honduras, pero creo que la comida salvadoreña se parece a la nuestra. Y creo que no lleva salsa de tomate. But then again, maybe in Honduras they're served differently.
