Since I had my cervical smear about 10 hours ago, I have had moderate discomfort in my pelvic area. It sort of feels like the cramping pain I get when I am menstrating, is this normal? I have had one before and this never occured.

Yes this is totally normal. Every smear test I have ever had has given me discomfort exactly as you have described! No need to worry, it will pass over next 12/24hrs...

I'd call and talk to a nurse. I've never had pain after a pap smear unless something was already wrong....like once I had a yeast infection and it hurt for a while afterward. But I've had plenty of paps...and never hurt afterward if I was healthy downstairs.
