LSU Romps to Sweet Victory Over Irish
Notre Dame Loses Record Ninth Straight Bowl Game
By PAUL NEWBERRY
AP Sports
NEW ORLEANS (Jan. 3) - JaMarcus Russell ****** his head, glanced toward the towering Superdome stands and soaked up the pleas of the LSU faithful.

The way the mammoth quarterback played against Notre Dame, there seems little reason for him to spend any more time in college.

Russell thoroughly outperformed Brady Quinn and sent Notre Dame to another postseason meltdown, leading No. 4 LSU to a 41-14 rout of college football's most storied program Wednesday night.

The Sugar Bowl returned to New Orleans with a Cajun-style party, which left the 11th-ranked Fighting Irish with a most unwanted spot in the record book. They lost their ninth straight bowl game, more than any other school.

"I just think," LSU coach Les Miles said, "I've got the best quarterback in the country."

Certainly he had the best on this night. The 6-foot-6, 257-pound Russell completed 21 of 34 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns. He also had his first rushing score of the season and set up another TD with a 31-yard pass.

Russell and LSU's feared defense took control after halftime, turning a tenuous 21-14 game into a laugher. The Tigers (11-2) outgained Notre Dame by a staggering 333 yards to 30 over the final two quarters.

Raider fan here.... so the answer is no. Oakland consistently drafts players with huge upsides and ingnore reliable and dependable talent. In my opinion Robert Gallery is bust considering how high of a pick he was... the jury is still out on JaMarcus Russell too. My best guess is that the new WR Bey will be OK but not special... If you want a fast receiver with bad hands... Ashlee Lelie was already around. If both wideouts panout, McFadden has a good second season and if the OL can give JaMarcus time to throw, and if the defense can stop the run and if.... and if.... and if....... 8-8 would be a reach with this team.

I would love to see him with the Texans. We will be shopping here shortly for a QB.

I don't think they, the Texans, are high enough in the draft to get Smith or Quinn(who I beleive will go first). Also, I don't know his name, but the QB from Hawaii is awesome as well. He doesn't get much press, but he set some records this year.

My team is the Bills...who could really use Russell instead of Losman, probably not gonna happen because Russell is either going to the Raiders or Lions.

Not my favorite team. Assuming he stays healthy, I like Carson Palmer at QB. As far as who should take him, besides the teams already mentioned by others, Green Bay would be a good fit, as Aaron Rodgers is no pro quarterback.

My favorite team doesnt need him, hes a great talent and could deffinatly help out the Lions or Raiders, but we dont need him we have Ben Roethlisberger the youngest QB ever to win a SuperBowl.

I would love for the Texans to have Russell. Carr su@ks, and Rosenfels is no Franchise QB. I'd take anyone over Carr.

If the Saints drafted Russell then the poor kid would never get a chance to play. Let him go somewhere where he can showcase his talent.

I'm a Bills fan and while not thrilled with Losman, their real problems are on the lines, and I hope they address that first.
