My wife has started a new job 2 months ago. She has told me that her lead operator/supervisor is criticizing her on most everything she does. This person is just mean toward her. My wife has gone to her Manager and complained about the abuse, but nothing has changed.

While my wife works at a different location than I do, we both work for the same company. While she is an hourly employee, I am in middle to upper management. I suspect this could be some of the problem, the lead operator may think, I got her the job, which I did not. I also suspect that the lead may want to get my wife to quit, because, if the lead were to do something wrong, it could get back to upper management, resulting in her getting reprimanded or fired. I don't want to do go to my immediately bosses, and complain but the situation at work for my wife is getting frustrating, for both of us. She still has 30 days left of her probation.

Try to look at another angle, if the lead knew that you are in middle to upper management, and if he do something wrong, it could get back to upper management, shouldn't he shown extra favour to your wife inorder to get into your good book? Why he have to be mean to your wife, where normal people will know as her husband you will side your wife and even report him to the upper management? In life, we are always biased, and it's certainly not wise to jump into conclusion based on one side story.

She should document every time this person criticizes her and her work. She needs to have a detailed explanation of what her job duties are, how she performed them, if she has had any complaints other than her supervisor. If she is performing her work satisfactory and is not causing the company any losses, then it is discrimination and intimidation. Once she has enough evidence, she can take it to her Manager. You can bet that the supervisor will not be able to support her claims, especially when your wife has written documentation. Good luck.

try a counselor? i dont know, if i were her i would just keep on going about with my business, and if he really wants her to quit, then if i were her, i would do everything possible to annoy him within job peramiters, like try to be his friend when he aboslutely hates you. and i would go back to my manager. if u do go to YOUR bosses' then it might help, but would i bet they would be more concerned on why your worrying about that instead of your job. i think that the both of you should go to the upper management and keep it cool. or what if u just talk to the person that is bothering her, ask why they are doing this, ask them to stop, and ask nicely.

Can your wife get a meeting with her supervisor and manager together? You need to stay out of it. Are any of her coworkers aware of mistreatment? Was she hired by her manager? That's the person that she needs to talk to.

Geesh! Why are you getting involved at all? Your involvement would be the worst possible thing for both of you.

She is an adult, let her act like one. You are not her father, she is capable of handling people on her own. If she CAN'T handle life w.o someone holding her hand what you really need to do is encourage her to stand up for herself.

I'd tell her to suck it up for the 30 days and then shoot for a transfer. Or just find a new job now.

well I think she should go to The Big Boss and explain whats going on.It makes for a bad day everyday for her .I think for sure she should go talk to someone and not you. That to me would not look good to a boss if someones spouse went to them with the spouses Problem.Good Luck
