1. Make sure that what you deleted isn't still there.

2. Try installing Lavasoft Ad-Aware and/or Microsoft Defender @ download.com. Run a virus scan to see if a virus is doing anything.

Otherwise, something else is wrong or you have done a very stupid thing. Or smart, depending on the way you think. No offense. Have a good day. Or bad.

Well, we're gonna need more details.

Did you empty your Recycle Bin after you deleted the files? If not, then the files are still taking up space on your drive.

you could have a virus so i would do a full system scan to make sure that there isn't a virus on you computer.

if you do find a virus make sure that until it is gone that your computer says off of the Internet. this is because if you use on-line banking some one could end up getting your bank details and other important information!!

good luck

your drive probably automatically cleaned up your Local Disk C because you did not have enough free space. But it will only delete unecessary files/temp files.

wipe (=overwrite the deleted files) the "free" space of your drive with a free cleaner like Eraser or Ultrawipe

and get your free space back

Maybe you aren't doing your math correctly, or by some chance could you have shrunk your main partition?
