I agree with Brian. Tell her that the hospital only allows so many people in the room, or your doctor has advised you (in case she double checks the policy) that you should only have your husband in there. Or blame it on your husband, tell her that he really wants this to be a special moment for your new budding family, and you want to make him happy and not force the issue. Tell her you really want her there during the labor, or at least for part of it because she's one of your best friends, but for the actual delivery, you want to respect your husbands wishes. If she tries to argue this point, tell her that there are some battles worth fighting with your husband, but this is one you are not willing to argue with him about. Good Luck.

The answer that Brian gave was absolutely correct. Have your doctor tell her that your husband is the only one allowed in the delivery room. Blame it on your doctor. If she is your friend, she will understand and it shouldn't become an issue. Or, you could give her more credit and talk to her and tell her that this is something special that you want to keep just between you and your husband. She wasn't there when the baby was made, (or was she?) and there is no need for her to be there when your baby is born.

Giving birth is all about being comfortable. If having her in the delivery room is going to ,make you uncomfortable, tell your before hand, then remind him when you go into labor. He will make her leave. Just be sure to express how much you don't want her in there, that you want it to be just you and your husband. Also have your husband go to the nurses station and let your nurse/midwife know your wishes. All of the staff of L and D wants you to have a safe delivery. I wish you the best of luck in giving birth. I have no kids yet, but I've seen them delivered in person..........GOOD LUCK!!

How did it even come to her thinking she would be in the room ? I cant believe someone would just invite themselves. And you dont want to hear "just tell her" ?? What else can you do but tell her ? There really is nothing else that can be done but telling her. Just say me and my husband would prefer to experience this alone. That's all.

You could "blame" it on your husband. Say, "he just wants it to be us in the delivery room." How can she argue with you? This is one of THE most important and special times in your life and YOU and your husband need to feel comfortable.

It may hurt her feelings but the best thing to do i tell her the truth but make sure you tell her why you don't want her there..Then she might feel abit better after you say you just want to share this with your husband

You put it off on the hospitals protocols. No one other than significant other allowed in delivery room....or have the DR. tell her ... No one allowed except the parents to be in the delivery room...by golly she should understand.... that's sorta selfish of her to think she should be included in such an intimate moment.

Just say "NO!" Get a spine and tell her the truth...this is something special between you and your husband. If she's a true friend, she'll surely understand!

Tell her your husband wants this birth to be a private family thing between you, him and the baby. And BTW, I agree with this.

Your doctor or the nurse can help you with this. They can tell her in a way that only family is allowed. Explain to your doctor how you feel and I am sure he or she will help you. Good Luck with your soon to be new baby!!!!!!
