I watched the movie last night, and realized that they never show what is actually in there, all they show is the gold glow?

it's not really defineable. what's in the briefcase is what everyone wants, but almost no one has, whether it be money or power or respect or whatever. the way everyone reacts is supposed to be the way you, the audience member would react if life were as simple as you opening a briefcase and finding what you're really, ultimately looking for.

Then, remember that whenever anyone opened the briefcase, it glowed, and they were in amazement at how beautiful it was; they were speechless. Now, bring in some Bible knowledge, and remember that when the devil takes your soul, he takes it from the back of your head.
Yep, you guessed it. What is the most beautiful thing about a person: his soul. Marsellus Wallace had sold his soul to the devil, and was trying to buy it back. The three kids in the beginning of the movie were the devil's helpers.

In terms of the plot, Quentin Tarantino says it doesn't matter. It was just a plot device to move the story forward. So basically, whatever you want to imagine was in it.

They never say but I read somewhere that when your soul is taken it is taken from the back of the neck.The first time that you see Marcellus Wallace it shows a big band aid on the back of his neck.So my answer is his SOUL.

I've never seen the movie myself, but I overheard some co-workers talkin' about it once. They said it was golden marijuana, which I guess is a pure marijuana? Hope that helps.
