When you streak a sample of bacteria on an agar plate, each colony that grows up is a clone, in that all of the cells descended from a single cell.

"Clone" is also used with respect to isolating a single gene from an organism and making a lot of copies of it.

Then finally, when you clone an organism, you produce a genetically identical individual from the original one.
