apparently a chimney sweep grabbed the reigns of a runaway horse, saving the King, the King then granted that chimney sweeps should be granted respect and admiration, i guess it was lucky the chimney sweep was there to save the king

Actually this is a contradiction in terms. The idea of chimney sweeps being lucky actually applies to them not the person getting married. In years gone past when they sent little children up chimneys to clean them they were lucky if they didnt suffocate from the dust and soot or even get stuck up there. Very often these children wouldnt survive into old age because of the dust and soot in their lungs if they did they were lucky. Hence the term that chimney sweeps are lucky, not to you but to themselves.

Well according to history, Chimney Sweeper died by the ton because of their job. So I do not think that they are all that lucky......................................................................................
But someone famous was saved by a chimney sweeper. So thru the tradition of men they became a lucky charm.... Also their Job have saved many people from death.........................................
