I think it depends on the reason for the c-section. I had a scheduled c-section because my daughter was a breech baby. I had my c-section at 39 weeks, because they did not want me to go into labor, something about her dropping into my pelvis and it being hard to get her out. She was breech due to my unusual shaped uterus and now I will probably have to have another c-section with my next baby since chances are things will end the same way. I would not think though that a doctor would perform one before 38 weeks.

Usually at 38 1/2 w they schedule your C section. Depends on your level of risk though. Why are you having a scheduled C? If it's due to a previous C section or anything risky they like to avoid you going in naturally so they divide the diference between your due date and your 37th week (week of full term)

Good luck!

They will wait as close as possible to week 40. They want to make sure the baby is at a nice healthy weight and that the lungs are fully developed. If the ultrasound indicates this is the case anywhere past week 38 they will go early if you or the baby shows signs of stress. It is fairly difficult to give a perfect answer to this because there are many variable that only your doctor knows and can make a decision based on. GOOD LUCK.

Get a new doctor, for starters. YOU are paying HIM for the service of your health care. He's not some how doing you a favor by seeing you. He's REQUIRED to answer your questions. If he wont, you get a new doctor. Let him know that. It is NEVER okay to be bossed through, or pushed through an appointment just because he's over booked.

All the c-sections i've known of were scheduled the week before the due date.

Often with a scheduled c section they will schedule you in before your due date. This is to lessen the chances of you going in to lobour before the c section, however it may depend on the reasons for your c section. Is it purely choice or is it for health reasons. If it is due to health reasons then it is more likely your c section will be scheduled early.

First off, congrats!! Secondly, I would make your doc sit down for a minute....just tell him you are getting nervous and need to talk for a minute. Most docs will schedule a c/s before 40 wks. Anytime after 37 is considered full term. I had one emergency c/s at 39 wks, one vbac, and my last was a scheduled c/s. I waited till 40 wks and 1 day b/c I was hoping he'd come on his own :)

Good luck!

He'll schedule it conveniently to his schedule. IF he is brisk you need to find another doctor who will give you the attention you deserve and help make this a even more memorable time for you. And do not hesitate to tell the other doctor why you're switching.
And if you're not going to switch, than stick up for yourself. Next time you ask, preface it with "I've asked before and this time I would like you to take the time to answer me, especially with how much I'm paying you!"

Remember you teach people how to treat you!

If you have questions you need to make sure your doctor answers all of them. He may be on a schedule, but YOU are paying him to keep you informed.

Most Dr's will do an scheduled c-section around 38 weeks...if they do elective c-sections at all. Some will only do it in case of an issue with vaginal delivery.

First of all, find a new doctor who will give you the time you need to get your questions answered.

Secondy, my doctor delivered my second baby a week early. But I suppose it depends on how conservative your doctor is. That, and his schedule.

My doctor scheduled my c-section at exactly 39 weeks. But I went into labor at 38 weeks 1 day.

If you're not happy with your doctor is okay to change, even late in pregnancy. This is the person who will be cutting you open, you have to be comfortable with him/her.

Good luck and congrats.
