Corn snakes eat pinkies, not crickets. Please learn more about what the snake will require, heat, water, before buying one.

While it's true that in the wild young rat snakes will eat insects, their preferred prey is mice and as the name suggests, rats. Not only will it need rats at it's adult size, you should also keep in mind that a well-kept rat snake can live over 20 years, I had a yellow that was 22 when he died, and I still blame that on those two black rats that were given to us.
Before investing money in a cage and a snake, go to the library and get a book on the care and maintenance of corn snakes, learn all you can and THEN decide if it's the right pet for you.
I do agree with them being better than ball pythons, because over the years, i've met some really stupid ball pythons, i know some people love them, but i just think they're kinda dim.

Corn snakes cannot survive long on a diet of just crickets. Super small corn snakes grow up to be about 5 feet long. Feed it pinkies and increase the size of the prey as it grows. Use frozen thawed prey if you don't like live feeders--frozen thawed is more convenient and it's probably what the breeder has started the snake on.

You won't have to worry about having this snake around for very long if you try to feed it crickets or any other insects. These(and all) snakes are flesh eaters and will starve before they'll eat insects. While some snakes (green snakes, grass snakes will eat insects) corn snakes are rodent eaters. Also, if you're looking for a really active animal, get a dog. Snakes don't jump around much and are really slow at retrieving a Frisbee.

corn snakes can only eat mice. you can't get a super small corn snake as they all grow the same size. DID you know that corn snakes or any other pet are NOT toys? if you have researched well enough then you would know that corn snakes need a lot of special care even though they are the easiest snake to have. i hope my info has helped.

A corn snake will do that when he gets to know you but he will require more than crickets when he gets older. Like mice, small rats . So unless you're prepared to go bigger on his food don't bother.
