I am 9 months along and a little over 1.5 cm dilated and been losing a thickish white mucus substance for a few weeks now. I just started to get a dark pinkish color to it. I am wondering how big is this plug is. I lose big clumps at a several times durring the day. I asked the doctor in the beging he said its normal but now it dark pinkish. Is it any sign of how soon i may go into labor?

Your cervix is approx 4cm long (mine is anyway, it might varry from person to person) so it's big enough to fill the gap between the two sides (less then 1cm) and 4cm in length. I've been losing mine in small pieces too over the last week. If it's starting to be pink in color your getting ot the end. Dont' get tooooo excited though.... you can lose your plug fully and still not go in labour for another week. Just don't go visiting out of state relatives any time in the near future hehe.

It depends on the size of your cervix. But, it can be pretty big and thick. Also, once it all comes out, it's a good indicator that in the next few weeks you will have your baby. Good Luck! The day is near.

I would recommed you go to a local library or book store and by " " My Pregnancy" book.It has so much information.Or go online and googe it to find a medical site source to get it.If your really curious ask your doctor what it is to look for.I think the mucis plug is red. Good luck on your pregnancy and congrats babies are such a blessing.

i began losing mine for two weeks before my water broke, i don't thik there is an exact way to measure or compare how much you've lost it depends on the individual, but losing the plug is a clear sign that labor is right waround the corner

the pink color means your nearing the end of it. Its huge, from what I hear, nearly the size of your palm.
Iam where you are right now. Losing huge nasty snotty chunks all the time.
Theres no way to know when we'll be in labor, but it sure does signal that you're making progress when you're losing the plug, esepcially with bloody show!
