You need a wifi connection, if you already have a wireless router then you're fine but if you have a wired modem then you can get a wi-fi usb adapter which you plug into your usb port. The only thing you need in your actual ds to play online is a wifi compatible game.

In order to play against anybody else in the country, you need to have a wireless network and a compatible DS game. I have not heard of anything that physically plugs into the DS as it has a built in WiFi connection but I will keep looking!

It's called a Wi-Fi dongle, and it actually fits into your PC, not the DS as the DS already has Wi-Fi built inside the casing.

you will come across a used DS lite for $a hundred thirty new and in keeping with possibility $eighty used yet once you get in simple terms a basic DS it may value $one hundred fifteen new and $60 used there's no distinction in video games in simple terms length so purchase the unique DS

First of all it doesn't plug into your DS it actually plugs in your DSL/Cable modem its called a wireless (WiFi) Router. There are several companies that make them I would recomend D-Link. Also before you plunk down the cash make sure your game supports infrastructure mode.

If you have wi-fi at home, you can just use that. But, if you don't then you have to get one of those wi-fi nintendo adaptors. I'm not sure how much they run.
