get a carrot
if you have molasses and water already
get a glass, put the carrot into the glass supported by toothpicks, fill the glass with the water if your school can afford some, some toothpicks, a carrot, hollow out a bit of the top of the carrot, put in some molasses, only 2 cents worth, save the rest for later years who will have low budgets, insert a glass tube if your school can get one, this will demonstrate "osmosis", the water will rise in the tube to everyones astonishment, maybe a few feet, then think about what osmosis might be
