First meet the standard requirements.
Then do the paperwork and get the signatures to get yourself on the ballot.
Next Voting
For president each state has a defined number of votes in what is called the Electoral College. Bigger states more votes. Smaller states less votes. The voting by the public more or less directs the voting of the delegates of the Electoral College. Win the Electoral College vote and win the election.

Honestly, all you have to do is get 270 votes in the elkectoral college.
There are a few requirements.
You have to be a natural born citizen of the United States and have to reside in the U.S for at least 6 years.
Then you have to file with the registrar of voters to get on the ballot.
You do not have to be a member of any party in order to run or is it a constitutional requirement to be elected. However, ours is a two party system in practice and it is practically impossible to get elected if you are not a member of one of the two parties.
