You're asking about "predestination." We are all subjects of predestination, but it isn't foreordained that you must accept divine predestination; you are at full liberty to reject any part or all of the Spirit's program for your life.
During your life, the Indwelling Spirit tries to effect the mind changes and spiritual adjustments that you might willingly accept; but under no circumstances does it ever take advantage of you or in any way arbitrarily influence you in your choices and decisions. The Spirit respects your sovereignty of personality; it is always subservient to your free will.
A mature and farseeing human being might be able to forecast the decisions of some younger person very accurately; but this "foreknowledge" takes nothing away from the freedom and genuineness of the decisions. Despite the elements of predestination in our lives, you are still the architect of your own destiny.

IIts not mapped out in any superstitious way. Astrology for instance is complete bollocks. But all your past experiences influence how you act and think. As far as I know Christians are meant to believe in free will, and that would surely rule out pre-destination.

Yes I do believe it is mapped out for you.
I think what is for you will not go by you.
What goes around comes around.

Most definitely.
Out path in the worldly life is preordained. We cannot change it we can only make of it the best we are able.
Fate is the ruler of all our lives, (and deaths).
We may have some influence by our more stupid actions, but at the end of the day our life is to some degree out of our total control.
Enjoy each and every day.

Things in your life certainly happen for a reason. Not sure whether our lifes are mapped out totally but I wouldn't dismiss it totally.

There is a philosophy/religion that deals with that idea - Calvinism. The gist of that thought is our life is already pre-destination and we just go through it until the end. Interesting idea. Of course the thought involves time and luck. Who knows, it could be something to the thought.
