Generally speaking sediments are made up of weathered lithic fragments that have been transported and deposited in another location. However weathering can occur insitu with little movement from their original location. Sediment mineralogy mostly contains weathering resistant crystals such as silica (sand) and altered minerals such as kaolin (clay) but can be just about anything in between. The word sediment is very general and mostly means small grain size and doesn’t have anything to do with mineralogy (the word “sediment” wasn’t even in my geological dictionary)
