I have a bachelors in Religious Studies, is that ok?

I am now in school doing the premed track. I've already done Biology I/II, Anatomy & Physiology I, English Comp. and PreCalculus. I've also taken the Preview to Chemistry course and plan on taking the rest of the chemistry and physics this year.

I'm an EMT, and volunteer at a nearby hospital once a month.

I've used my religious studies degree to do community service which i hope i can add to my resume.

Depends on the school, but some claim it's not necessary as long as you've completed their required courses. Realistically, unless you're in a 6 year program, you need that bachelors.

Each med school has its own set of required courses. You have to check each med school you're interested in to see if you've done all the necessary courses.

Otherwise, any bachelor's will suffice. As long as you've done their required courses, a med school doesn't care what bachelor you have.

You do need a bachelor's in the US before you can enter med school. And you can major in anything, so long as you complete the appropriate prerequisites.

Check out the website for one of the med schools and see what their requirements are. Start with the one for UMass Worcester, just as an example.

You can also call the pre-med advisor at your old school to discuss what the requirments are for med school, and how you can go about meeting them if you don't have the right prerequisites. There are actually post-baccalauriate programs that are designed to prepare students for applying to med school. That may be an option for you.

Wuts your GPA? Is it above 3.5? Did you take the necessary science courses such as biology, inorganic chem, organic chem, physics, eng comp, and calculus? The MCAT? If you already have a degree I think its a little unrealistic to be thinking about medical school now. You would need all the things listed above, plus excellent recommendations and community service at a hospital.

Technically, you do not need a bachelor's degree to get into medical school -- but very few people get in without one (I actually know someone who did -- but he went back in the mid 1960s).

Any bachelor's degree is OK -- but you have to have taken a number of premed classes to get in. If you haven't met the premed requirements -- you can always go back and take them.

Religious studies will suffice only if you took a bunch of science classes (which you probably didn't because you wouldn't need them for RS).
