Geez, poor Britney! She does have talent, worked like a dog since she was a kid, and became successful.
But she had no real time for a childhood, probably very little unstructured time. Think of all you learned about people from growing up, interacting with your peers, just hanging out. She had none of that.
So now, she wanted to doubletime going into the marriage and family thing. Unfortunately she approached it with all the drive she used to work all those hours to become successful. Unfortunately, the love of your life doesn't appear on cue (and actually may never appear). Most people learn that with trial & error. Most guys aren't ready to jump into marriage, but given her money and looks, unscupulous ones would. She simply didn't have the experience to be more discerning about men, and life in general.
This Paris-buddy thing is probably something along the lines of "I want to go out and do what I've missed" (at least she;s doing it now, not waiting for a midlife crisis!), and Paris is available (having run through & probably irked every other female she used to hang around with). Sure, Britney made a bad choice for a partying companion. Most of us have done this at some time or another. But we don't have cameras and an entertainment industry following us around to document and spread the word.
She needs experience (which she is getting), and perspective (which only time and thought can give). She already has talent, professionalism, and (from what I've heard), a warm, compassionate heart. Eventually she will find herself, and I'm sure the Britney who comes out of this will be someone who will win new fans as well as the respect of her old ones

I feel that people need to give her a break. Everyone screws up, but not everyones dirty laundry is hung out to dry for the world to hear! I am not a Britney fan, but I also feel that she should be able to live her life as she chooses. No one is perfect!

since she married Jason to Kevin the number decreased and now that she is hanging with Paris Hilton, and acting like her, thats just a bullet to the bare brain, so, shes prolly got fans in the hundred thousands
