How old is your baby? If s/he is fairly small, check behind the ear to make sure it's very clean. (I'm not insinuating that your baby would be dirty - when they're very small and eat lying down, milk or formula can dribble down those chubby cheeks and 'stick' behind the ear. Even very clean parents can miss this - my daughter was stinky sometimes too.)

If your baby is older and you can't find anything externally that might be causing it, have his/her pediatrician check it out. Good luck!

I would definately call the doctor and have him checked out. Maybe there could be food or something in his ear? My son gets alot of wax but it is not stinky and the doctor said this is normal....

Yeah, I'd say that is an ear infection. They could be draining as well. Get him/her to a peditrician for a check-up. My son got tubes at 9 months and it has helped a lot!

Definitly could be a sign of infection... could also be just dirty... try taking her to your doctor and maybe he can help you clean it out :) Cleaning 4 month old ears is hard, so don't feel embarassed by it.

Sounds funny, but I check my golden retreiver's ears for infection by smelling them...if they stink, I know we've got an infection.

Definately take your baby in!

You know, I was thinking about this last night, and you had mentioned that she was crying differently and not sleeping, maybe it IS an ear infection...?? Any fever at all??

I would think an infection. Most babies don't stink. (Well unless they need a diaper change) Have the baby seen to make sure. Good luck

Definite sign of infection. Get him seen immediately.

i agree with ragmamma. Sometimes the milk rolls behind their ears or they sweat and causes the ear to stink behind them. If it is an internal smell you should take her to the doctor as soon as possible.
