Time and time again, I see African American/Black History month, or Native American History month. The asians have thier month, as does Latin America.
Why then, by discriminating races among all of these months, would it be so racist to have a white/caucasion month? I find it very hypocritical.

As for learning history in school, you're suppose to learn what people did in history and the events that lead the world to where it is today, not to judge what color people were. - Very good point Travis W -
This seems to be a heated subject and many are illinformed. People like to throw out the excuse, "Well my 'people' were enslaved for 1000 years" or "My 'people' were oppressed by so-and-so for so long".
Guess what? Every single race does it to every race, everyone is so brainwashed about the whites enslaving the black population for almost 200 years. What about the hebrews? They were enslaved by their own race for a much longer time.
The whole purpose of this question was to spark a little thought processing, "Why do we have special months for certain races?" Yes, it is to learn about that certain race for a while. But why not just incorporate all history into our classrooms?
It's our nature to be biased, but mature individuals can see past that.

- The First Lady - You are sick. Please don't bring your racist views here to bash on other races.
Just an observation I made. Younger people nowadays have not experienced anything to the effect of true segregation and discrimination that their ancestors have. So why do they try to use it as an excuse for being "counter racist" or to try to put other races into submission.
It's not allowed to call a black individual by the most hated discriminatory term, yet they call eachother that. And they justify themselves somehow to throw discriminatory slang back at other races without being considered racist. Hypocritical are we?

- TransyMAJ - I quote, "the vast majority of social and political history involving the west, and even more, the UNITED STATES are about white people. The HUGE majority of the history that I learned while in college was about white people."
Wrong, the history you learned was not ABOUT white people. A majority of the history you learned, the people HAPPENED TO BE white. Please try not to come off as biased. The way people write things and the words they choose tells a lot about the person writing them.

me too!
everyone has history and it deserves to be observed.
This is going to sound really mean, but what makes all the other groups so special that they get a month?

It's not racist. However, the vast majority of social and political history involving the west, and even more, the UNITED STATES are about white people. The HUGE majority of the history that I learned while in college was about white people. In order to delve into cultural differences, you have to take non-mainstream courses.

The Caucasian history is well know and documented so there are no real reason to have a white history month.
Then again if we did have a month i would prefer to only see men honored that have done something good for human rights and the betterment of all.
Be well dear !

Its not racist. But, technically US History is basically white history. They just don't call it that. But, for one month out of the year you have to learn about the same black people over and over again. Yeah... thats very hypocritical. Its not discriminatory. Its education. Learning about something you otherwise would know nothing about.

It got here approximately for valid sufficient reasons. As somebody who has a tendency to choose others with the aid of their deeds and their character, i think of a few black historic figures of observe did not get their due. Bass Reeves, Jim Beckwith, John Noland and a super form of others are very interesting black men from American historic past. needless to say there replaced into comparable selective historic revision happening and that made black historic past month inevitable. With that mentioned, what black historic past month has became into is in simple terms what Booker T. Washington maligned.."the perpetuation of the grievances of black human beings." So this is a blended bag.

I'm curious to know what would be taught and 'celebrated' during "White History Month".
Would it be a celebration revelation of the many years of enslavement and segregation of 'colored' people?
Would you throw a big fancy feast and sing praises of glory about how "The White Man" took the land from the Indians?
Or would it be a block party to recruit and celebrate how the 'culture' will gladly allow the Hispanic culture to enter into U.S. territory but only if you can rob them of substantial wages - overwork them for less than satisfactory pay.
Hmm.... yes I am truly curious as to what would be celebrated during this 'month'.
In school children are taught the history of the white culture every single day. If you truly had insight on how 'other cultures' developed their own "months" you'd know its not to be racist or appear superior to the white man - it was to celebrate and educate themselves on a culture that is rarely/if ever taught in schools.

I have always been told because main stream history is taught about white people. In other words every month is white history month. How ever I do think that there are double standards on somethings. You will never hear of a special interest group for white Americans that is not classified as raciest and a branch of the KKK. There will never be a NAACP for white people. It is slowly becoming wrong to be white.

There isn't a month set aside for that because most history classes still have a weighty focus on white people in history.
Isn't it time to be all-inclusive all year long so that we don't need special months for anybody and everbody is addressed in history when they should be?

every month is white/caucasian history month. When we learn about the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, WWI, WWII, almost anything in history, we learn about white people.
