I'm thinking about writing about stem cell research but, I wanted to get some opinions first. Do you think this issue has been discussed to much and is now "played out"? I'm extremely interested in this issue, thus the reason I want to write about it. However, I also want to make sure I choose a topic that will be interesting to others -- something that is unique and captivating. I'm open to other ideas for topics if any of you have them, as well. Thanks bunches for your help :o)

I think you can approach it from a boring or cutting edge standpoint. For example, general stem cell research is thoroughly covered in the media today, but what about umbilical cord blood stem cells? Did you know that from the blood in the left over umbilical cord, people can donate stem cells to national stem cells bank that may, in turn, help people with genetic or degenerative diseases like Alzheimers? I did a paper on this while interning at a NYS government body, and it shocked people. I think, not only will you examine a new angle, but you'll truly educate people on something phenomenal.
Focus on the umbilical cord blood, rather than embyonic or amniotic fliud stem cells. This is the different angle you need.

My own opinion is this particular topic has been truly performed out. fortuitously for you there are some new matters basically lately contained in the information with regards to stem cellular study and the prospect of making use of the placenta as hostile to embryonic tissue. i imagine this places a sparkling adequate spin on the problem that it may fly nicely and not in any respect look overplayed. solid success!

I don't believe it is played out at all! It was just in the news this week! Doctors have now found that they can get the same cells from amniotic fluid instead of the embryo. Why not go at it from this angle?
