Are there some songs that you messed up the lyrics on when singing them and then later on went "oh!"? My husband used to mess up the lyrics to "I wanna Jitterbug". He thought they said "I want a chili dog." Even now I can't look at a chili dog without thinking of the tune.

These are known as "mondegreens", from a mishearing of "And laid him on the green" as "And Lady Mondegreen".

Mine is from "Frustration" by Soft Cell. I always thought it was "I wanna experiment with cocaine, LSD and senna pods" when the last phrase is actually "and set a bad, bad example". Listening to the crystal-clear CD version I can hear it, but on a battered tape on a tinny cassette player back in the 1980s it sounded quite different!

In the 10000 maniacs song "Candy everybody wants" I use to sing the line "If lust and hate is the candy" as "we've lost our kids to candy". My ex-wife use to give me crap about that. That's one of the reason's she's an EX.

I cannot listen to Sheryl Crow's "Everyday is a winding road" without singing the chorus as Elmer Fudd. "Evwey day is a winding woad....I get a wittle bit cwoser....."

Sure, when I was a kid I used to mess up the lyrics to "Wooly Bully" When he says, "Hattie told Mattie...." I used to sing "Had to go to Haddad's" (Haddad's is our local grocery store)

Um..I can't remember the name of the song, but I used to sing it like this:

"Ooh, I'll get my maid to text to you!"
When it was:
"Ooh, I can't wait to get next to you!"

I think it was by Ashanti.

No Doubt- "Walking into Spiderwebs". The chorus sounded like "it's all your fault, I scream my balls off" (it's actually "I screen my phone calls").
