I recentely did this, so I can tell you it's a little bit tricky but doable. I had a 60 GB Laptop that I partioned into 50 GB and 10GB. The 50 was for my existing Windows XP Media Edition and on the 10 GB I put a freebie Linux OS called Freespire (which is pretty cool actually).

The first thing you need to do is run defrag on your computer at least a few times. You want to try and get as much free "continuous" space as possible.

Next find a partition program. Here is a good Linux Live CD to partition hard drives (don't worry, this is what I used and it works with Windows...and it's free):

Once you burn it just restart your computer and boot off the CD. You will be able to partition your hard drive then.

Partitioning is a useful thing. I prefer to make separate partition for the OS. It will save your data on other partitions if you need to reinstall the OS. I can't recommend you any free partition manager but I use Acronis Disk Director. It isn't free but you it will allow you to perform any operation without any data loss. I think that you won't regret purchasing it. Here is a link to free trial version of Disk Director: http://www.acronis.com/enterprise/products/diskdirectorsuite/

I don't know about any free one, but Partition Magic sometimes does the job. the best way is to make a fresh install and you can partition from your windows installation.

Cheers

suitable option on homestead windows is to replica each of the options off the different partition and then advance the dimensions of the C: rigidity to the completed rigidity. homestead windows does no longer make any use of walls, each software you positioned in to the different rigidity plenty a techniques more effective to the c: rigidity. each of the library information and registry entries could flow to c: It does no longer take care of the device operating diverse walls, if the rigidity fails it takes out both walls, and any virus or secret agent ware will seem for extra drives to contaminate.
