Would someone kindly tell me how long is the term for which Congress members are elected by that I mean when will the new Congress members time expire?

So the new Democrat majority is only for the next two years, is that right?

The House of Representative: Two year term. Elections are held every two years, in even numbered years..

The Senate: 6 year term. Elections for Senators are varied. In other words, not all Senators are up for reelection at the same time. An election for one Senator from a state might have just occurred, and an election for the other one may not be for another year or so.

House: 2 year terms.
Senate: 6 year terms. 1/3 elected every 2 years.

Democrat majority for only 2 years: I hope so. No guarantees.

House or Representatives - 2 years. The new batch will be up for reelection in 2008.

Senate - 6 years. The new batch will be up for reelection in 2012.

When they are not reelected . I think Congress need term limits , do you ?
