you cannot get him until you beat rayquaza

when you get to the magma pit, where there are only three floors and grouden is on the third, save at the kangaskhan statue

try and try again, grouden only has like a 20% recruitment chance

you can only have a party size of two in order to recruit him, he's a four stars size.

example: if you have a charmander (size is 1 star) and a mantine (size is 2 stars), you'll never recruit, because that would make your group size a 3 star size, and max group size is six
