Well I am not going to buy an item on ebay if I can not see a very clear picture of what I am buying. I don't care how well you describe a product using words, a picture always speeks for itself. I could post a car for sale on ebay, say its in mint condition...but show you real poor pictures of the car, because I don't want you to see the dent in the door, or that huge scratch across the hood. Not everyone on ebay is honest, so if someone sees a poor picture, there not going to bid as high incase that person happens to be one of the not so honest ebayers.

How good do want the photo to be ? Check the pixel size of your camera. However; if the photo is legible, the prospective buyer will know that the the photo may not be a true representation of your product and will need more information, therefore will contact you.

Well.. people like to buy things by looking at them. If your picture is of poor quality they assume the item is of similar quality.
Get a nice digital camera and watch your auctions go for more!

Just look at it this way. Assuming verbage are the same, would you buy something that is advertised on the radio vs. something that is advertised on TV? I get one more sense from tv advertisement and it is call sight. The next progression is touch. If I can touch it and feel it then that would increase the probability of buying the item.

Because people then assume the bad photo is delibrate and the person is trying to conceal the faults of their item.

if you can't even take a clear pic. then how do they know you can describe it accurately? Put a blindfold on, go to a store and have someone describe the merchandice to you and see what you want to buy!

Looking at the photo lets you know how it'll look, if it's not clearly I'll be hesitant to trust the buyer-like they had something to hide
