Its a prevalent theme and belief. And agreed, its shameful to go to war under false pretenses...it would have been better for Bush to have come clean, and give his real reason. Because truly, oil reserves ARE vitally important.

Would you have felt better about the war if you'd been told it was about controlling oil reserves?

The plans to trade oil in Euros certainly sped up GWB's plans to go to war. Also, concerns over China's access to the rich resource has been an issue in the White House since WW2.

not to the Saudis, Russians, Syrians and especially the Iranians who were trying to get their hands on Iraq themselves. Keeping them out was a major goal and that is something that couldnt be publically stated. It will be looked at in the history books as something that needed to be done.

As arrogant as these NeoCons are, they would never have made the mistake of being honest about this. If everyone knew from the beginning that this was about plunder and Dominion over the Middle East, there would have been serious scrutiny over the conduct of this war, and that would have removed the many opportunities it has presented BushCo. $3 billion per week out of the US Treasury, 500,000 barrels of oil going "missing" every day in Iraq, and no bid contracts for their plundering herd of private contractors like Halliburton/CheneyInc. would not have been possible without the pretense of swift justice 9/11 provided them.

I agree, partly. If you think about it though, the war is about trying to protect America...generally speaking. We are trying to stop the hatred being taught, to stop the weapons from being built, and to stop the oil from getting into the wrong hands. It all ties together. Oil IS a vital resource to us Americans. Our economy would completely shut down. America would no longer exist the way we know it, if at all...it's so scary. If only more Americans would join in supporting the success of America!

It would have been nice if he was honest with his intentions. No I would not feel better. Bush (and family) and the vise president Cheney have personal business oil investments in the middle east.

Why haven't the US go after Saudi Arabia and
Bin Laden for harbouring terrorist? Some of the 9/11 terrorist came from that country....

Because Saudi Arabia invest money in the American economy. They hold 25% of the American economy. Weird but true.

The war was not about oil. The embargo on iraqi oil made the reserves his mythical "oil buddies" own more valuable. Removing the embargo increased supply and devalued american reserves. A war for oil makes no sense, it was not about oil.

Honesty, YES. However since politicians never tell the truth, you watch their lips move, but think and believe otherwise
