Don't let your studies suffer, but DO join a local amateur dramatics society so you've had plenty of experience, and get involved with school plays, weekend theatre workshops and youth groups etc. The more exposure you have to drama and acting, the more you'll have to wave at potential employers.
However, it's very hard to get into, poorly paid and not quite the dream people expect it to be.
However, if you're set on doing it anyway, get the practice in, get to know what you're letting yourself in for, and set your sights towards drama school once you've cleared the GCSE hurdle. You can always take further GCSEs a short while down the line if you want to. Talk it over with your careers adviser and remember that if you really want it, only you can make it happen....
Reach for those stars!
Good luck...

Yeah find a local am dram group but check them out first. Some I know are full of older people who do not make it that easy or welcoming for younger people to join - that could easily put you off. There are plenty of youth theatres around where you could either act or get some useful directing experience. Also take any opportunities to learn back stage craft - will help with your acting and could be other way in if acting jobs do not turn up.

As a fellow student actor I can tell you right now that acting WILL NOT get in the way of school work try going to a drama or theather group to get a feel for life on the stage then try adutioning for a few smaller roles and work your up from their
p.s. Break A Leg (actors never tell eachother "good luck" that's bad luck!)

Don't worry. I did a degree in mathematics before I became an actor and it hasn't hurt my career any. Just keep doing plays as an amateur and find work at a local theatre. In time I'd go to drama school and then just keep on working.
Best of luck.

As a actress I advise you to try doing a small play with other people who want to act but have the same problem. And if you don't find anyone them do it with friends but if all else fails then do a play with well family members the same or close to same age as you.

Join a drama club or theatrical group outside oy your studies.
If your desire to act does not work out at least you have other qualifications to fall back on.
