How can most people here be opposed to a plan without hearing it first? How about waiting to hear what Bush says tonight before throwing darts at it?

I absolutely concur with you Muse, concerning the prejudices many bring to the political arena. One should judge a set of propositions after they are articulated, not before they are expressed. Granted, Bush and his administration have done much to undermine the American trust in their leadership, but there is always room for redemption, even for the most craven and wayward of people.

Democrats and other liberals constantly harp on about how conservatives lambasted Clinton for the Lewinsky scandal and how they vilified all left wing politicians as sexual deviants who were out to subvert tradition. Liberals, by prejudging the President before he makes his statement, are being no more mature in their political behavior than conservatives were during the Clinton era. If you despise a certain behavior, it is the hallmark of hypocrisy to then partake in it when it is convenient for you.

Well when most of America wants only for the troops to return home it is hard to even suggest a plan that involves anything but how many planes do we need and how long will it take to drive out of Iraq to Saudi Arabia or Kuwait .If he said he was leaving a nuke in Baghdad and that if our troops where harmed in any way while they left he would detonate it then I could support him .
He is still after the same goal . To keep American troops in Iraq for the next 300 years or until the oil runs out .
This was the goal and plan from the start . We have the oil fields under control and have almost restored oil production and pipe line operation on a separate grid . That is the power supply to run the pumps fields and pipe lines and pumping stations is separate from the Iraqi main grid and self contained operated by American troops . We are not leaving . I will be watching episodes of gentle ben on dvd . You probably did not get a chance to see this show when it aired on television .

You haven't missed anything. People have prejudged Bush and what course of action he wants to take in Iraq. People voted Democrat, supposedly because they wanted a change in Iraq. He went along with the populis and comissioned the Iraq study group. Part of their recommendations was more troops, along with other things. Bush has said he WIll not leave Iraq unil we have been sucessful. So, the democrats have already said they will not fund more troops. This will hurt the troops already there. And, most people are forgetting that there are fewer troops in Iraq now than there were when we Invaded. It is going to take more troops to remove the existing troops and equipment when we do leave. So, the long and short of it is, more troops are going over there sooner or later.

Probably, The Democrats can't wait to bash him, and they are swaying others to follow their lead. The Dem's want us out of Iran and Iraq so bad! I wouldn't want them to make such a fast desicion if I were them as it could back fire if the terrorists follow the soldiers back to the states, who will have egg on their face then. Hopefully it will be before the next election, so a Dem does not get into office, Hopefully it won't be Hillary!

I would be more open, except if you have been paying attention to any the media reports, we already know what he is going to say: more troops, more money for reconstruction. That is a plan that I am not in favor of. Whatever rhetoric he wraps that message around is not going to change my opinion.

If he does have a different plan, I'll be listening intently.

THEY HAVE ALREADY DRAFTED RESPONSES TO THE SPEECH WITH OUT HEARING IT. NANCY PELOSI HAS SAID THAT SHE WILL PUT ANY NEW PLAN TO THE CONGRESS. SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO BE SAID AND SHE IS READY TO FIGHT. THIS IS WHAT WE WILL HAVE FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS. A TUG OF WAR IN WASHINGTON D.C. THE DEMOCRAPS ARE TRYING TO PUT ON A SHOW FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. TRUTH IS THAT THEY ALL HATE EACH OTHER. THEY WILL NEVER GET ANYTHING DONE FOR THE NEXT TWO YEARS. I BET THE EVERYTHING STAYS STATUS QUO.

Actually, what you've missed is that Bush has already released the details of the plan.

Send in more troops. Outline goals for the Iraqis. No timeline. Same as always.

Yes they are. It's plain that these people that call themselves Americans are obviously the enemy of the American Government. If they truly wanted to better this country, they would wait, applaud the better points, and contest the ones they feel mistaken.. Instead, all of the flaming idiot libs on this site are already bashing President Bush without having heard a word. Real Americans here... NOT>

do you really think for some people it will matter what he says? at least they admit it by saying up front they dont really care what he says.

and the worst part about it is that they will also see what I said as true because they think so little of him that its good they think it doesn't matter.

see the couple answers above me. must be psychic.
