In Through the Out Door is the final studio album by English rock band Led Zeppelin, recorded in November and December of 1978 at Polar Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, and released by Swan Song Records on 15 August, 1979. The album was named by the group as such, because of their recent problems and the rise of punk music, trying to get back into the public mind is like "trying to get in through the 'Out' door, than through the 'In' door". But there are two other possible meanings. Plant was amused to find himself a gay sex icon- and the title could thus be an ironic reference to anal sex. And, in the Black Country, an 'out door' was an off-licence attached to a pub.
